While traveling across country a few years back (i.e., from Texas to California), we made a few stops along the way. Much of our drive was along Historic Route 66 (now called Interstate 40 in many places). One stop along the way is the Petrified Forest NP. The Petrified Forest is an absolutely amazing place to visit. Back about 200 million years ago this area was quite a bit more humid and tropical. Large trees grew in the area that fell and were quickly buried. Fast forward to today, and these trees are now fossilized (i.e., petrified).
I took several photos of the park, and this one is one of my favorites. I used a process known as "Focus Staking" to get a large focal range. I had recently purchased a new Canon EOS 5 camera and was excited to try new things.
Exposure data were unrecorded.
