Here are the sights you will see when you walk (maybe) about 1/4 of the way down the Bright Angel Trail at Grand Canyon NP.  During a family vacation in August 2012, we stopped by Grand Canyon NP (among others).  We would be at this particular park for only a couple of days, so we needed to choose our hikes based on what would provide the best representation of the Grand Canyon.  This was the one most recommended, and it did not disappoint.

We were hoping to start early in the day.  However, with 2 teen-aged kids in tow, it was hard to get the day started.  We actually began our descent around noon.  The sun was directly overhead, and the heat was a bit on the high side.  However, we applied our sunscreen and had plenty of water, so we began our journey.  It's a full day's trip to go all the way to the bottom and back up, so we knew we would only get part of the way down.  I don't recall exactly how far down we went, but we made it at least to the first rest house.  When hiking trails in the Grand Canyon, you need to remember you are going down hill, and that you will need to go back up.

I made several stops along the trail to attempt panoramic images.  This one spoke to me the most.  I probably spent about 15 minutes at this point to create the images I wanted.  This particular image is a combination of 3 separate photos stitched together.  (I have another one of a full panoramic view from this point that I will make available shortly.)  In post-processing, I brightened the colors a bit and modified the contrast slightly to get this final image.  Otherwise, this is what we saw that day.

After reaching our end-point we started back.  As expected, it was a bit harder to go back, but we made it huffing and puffing.  We ate well that evening.

Note:  The display image may suggest the print is soft and low resolution.  Please be assured that the final product is a very high resolution and looks AMAZING.
